We are a referral Apprenticeship program. Everyone must be hired by one of our signatory contractors. A list of these Contractors can be found on our website www.rooferslocal20.com or you can pick one up at either the Union Hall or the Apprenticeship school.
If an Applicant has no prior experience in the roofing industry, they would enter as a probationary worker or a 1st year apprentice pending how they are hired by the contractor. If hired as a probationary worker you will be entered into the Apprenticeship at the request of the employer.
If an applicant has prior experience as a roofer with a qualified roofing company, they would need to bring their W-2's or 1099's to the Apprenticeship. They will be given a short interview by the Apprenticeship Coordinator to determine how knowledgeable they are in the roofing systems. The coordinator will at that time determine where that applicant would be placed in the apprenticeship program. The applicant will be given a list of Contractors.
Once an applicant provides a Letter of Intent to Hire from a participating contractor, they will sign the necessary paperwork and get their referral to work. They will need the following items at that time.
1. Original, legal, social security card (NO PHOTOCOPIES)
2. State issued photo id must clearly state the applicant's birth date
3. Must be 18 years of age to qualify for employment
ROOFERS LOCAL 20 will not discriminate against apprenticeship applicants or apprentices based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), sexual orientation, genetic information, or because they are an individual with a disability or a person 40-years old or older.
What's New at Roofers 20
On behalf of Roofers Local 20 Apprenticeship we would like to recognize Matt Lloyd for his hard work and dedication to this Apprenticeship. He along with others have helped build this school to what it is today. He has helped make a great program that is recognized from coast to coast.
Matt is now working for International and will keep doing great things working with other locals that need his assistance.
We wish him the best in his new venture.
